HISTORY

Over 50 years experience

Henry Laverty, a Publican and Auctioneer, started the undertaking business in 1910. At that time, he had a glass hearse which was drawn by two black horses. The horses were looked after by a gentleman Dan Kennedy.
In 1933 Henry bought the first motorised hearse. In 1948 he updated it to a Wolsely model. His son in law, John Daly, oversaw the running of the business from 1955-1966. Paddy Marrion, also a Publican, took over the business in 1966 and is still conducting funerals today. He was assisted by Arthur McCormack, a well-known figure in Randalstown at that time. Mr George Hart joined the firm in 1990. When George retired his son, Brendan, took his place until 2016. At this time Mr Dessie O Neill joined the firm. The team has since grown with the addition of Dermot McCann in June 2018.
In 1986, Paddy built a small funeral home which suited the needs of the undertaking business at that stage. But times have moved on and it became necessary to build the larger, more modern premises which we have the pleasure of just opening. We now have our own Chapel of Rest if required.
